'Celebrating the Arts and Our Cultural Heritage'
How We Began

Reconciling a community's past with its future requires visionary thinking, leadership and the efforts of individuals imbued with a strong sense of partnership, such was the thinking of members of the Coquitlam Maillardville Heritage Trust, and the City of Coquitlam when they initiated the innovative heritage preservation and arts centre expansion project in 1993, the Maillardville Heritage Square.

Once the Maillardville Heritage Square was completed 5 years later in September of 1999, the CMHT focused first on supporting programs for all children like the Arts Scholarship Endowment Fund, secondly, assisting in facility renovations to accommodate the growing arts and culture community.   Through annual grants facilities like Place des Arts, Place Maillardville, Coquitlam Public Library, Mackin Heritage Home and Toy Museum and Societe Maillardville-Uni, are able to  continue to expand their facilities and accommodate more students.

In 2010 the CMHT is moving forward and working harder than ever to be able to support more facilities who offer programs for children in the fine arts, performing arts and literary arts through out the City of Coquitlam.
